Blog Awards

   Waht.

People are giving me blog awards again. Thank you Morgan!

The Rules:
♥ Thank the person who nominated you.
♥ Leave a link to their page.
♥ Give a brief story about how you started blogging, and share some tips.
♥ Nominate 15 other bloggers
♥ Notify your nominees by email or comment

The Story:

So once upon a time I was on Pinterest and saw a random link to the lovely Sarah's post about characters. I looked at the post. Then I looked at her whole blog.
Then I looked at some of the blogs she follows and was sucked into the world of blogging.
And since I want to *starts singing* be like the cool kids, I made my own blog.

The Tips:

Reply to comments. Seriously. Not only will you make some baby blogger freak out because "OH MY GOSH SHE NOTICED ME", but it's so much more personal. And humans like personal. One of the blogs I follow never replies, and I rarely even read the posts because they're kinda...boring when I know she'll never reply.

Be fun. Be yourself. We want to see you, not the person you feel like you have to be on the internet. If you ramble and flail in real life, do it on your blog.

Do gifs. (This is a personal preference. But seriously I love blogs with gifs.)

The Rules:
♥ Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
♥ List the rules and display the award.
♥ Add 7 facts about yourself.
♥ Nominate 15 other bloggers.
♥ Follow on blogger the person who nominated you

Beautiful Books Linkup #2

So yeah. By now you've probably noticed that I don't post very much.
Unless there's a linkup run by Cait. Because Cait Drews is kinda my blogging idol and I wish that my blog could be half as fantabulous as hers. Maybe one day, in a few thousand years.

And until that day comes, I shall simply leech off of her genius.

1. Be honest: How is your writing going?

Well, it's going. Sorta. I'm not doing NaNo and I had to drop out of the 100-for-100 because reasons. But right now I'm trying to focus on character development and plotting, because in all honesty?

2. What's your first sentence/paragraph?

"It was a time of war. No one was safe. It was a time of blood, but the only glory came to those who delighted in death. Some fought for power. The rest fought to keep themselves and their loved ones alive.
"But, oh, what a terrible life it was! Not knowing if you would live to see another day, and not knowing if you cared."
A shiver runs through the audience as the firelight flickers on the old storyteller's face. Her white hair shines, and her eyes are dark with the memories of a dark time.

I avoided an info dump with storytellers and flashbacks. Yay me.

3. Do you have a book cover and/or pictures that reflect your book?

While I don't have a collage anywhere near as fabulous as Aimee's, I do have one that I like. It's not the best, but it's pretty cool. (I plan on making some better ones soon, but right now I want to just get this posted.)

4. Do you have pictures of each of your characters? If not, describe them for us! (Be as descriptive as you can.)

Let me tell you a thing.

My characters are my babies and I flipping love them to death. I made some fabulous one-line descriptions of them so here you go.

 First we have Kaleth.
A skilled warrior with a talent for inspiring action and creating laughter

Then Barrow.
A knight with a tragic past and a penchant for flirting

And Egin.

A lonely hunter with hidden magic and a love for cats

And then there's the girls,

 like Allorie.

A princess forced to be a soldier

And Danica,
A village girl with an eye for detail and a mind for strategy

And last but not least, Katria.
A notorious assassin longing for peace

  Yes I have a lot.

5. What scene are you most excited to write?

THE SHIPPING. OOOOH THE SHIPPING. I can't wait to be able to have my characters hold hands and kiss and save each other.

6. Share a snippet or a scene you really enjoyed writing.

"I'm sure your father knew what he was doing." Mum sounded confident but there was uncertainty in her eyes.

What had they been doing? Why would six seemingly immortal beings choose to die for a cause they could have won?
And then Kaleth knew. They had seen something better in the future. Something stronger. But what?
An idea came into his mind and refused to leave. It spun through his thoughts and destroyed every argument with its obviousness, its perfection.

7. Now that you're writing, have any of the plot details, or the process itself, turned out different from what you planned or imagined?

Not really...I've just found out more about the plot. But I did discover that I am a plontser: heavy on the plotting with a little bit of pantsing.

8. Is there a character or aspect of your plot that's difficult to write?

I think the hardest part is hinting at backstory without revealing too much. Third person limited is a little difficult.

9. What’s your favorite aspect of this novel so far? Favorite character?

My favorite aspect is Barrow and Kaleth's arguing. They can't get along for the life of them and it's adorable. And I'm really not allowed to have a favorite; it's like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. (But if you really want to know, it's Barrow.)

10. Have you drawn off of any life experiences or people you know to create your novel and your characters?

Barrow is based vaguely on my best guy friend, who I'll call Ryan. They have similar personalities, and even their backstory is kinda similar(this is probably why he's my favorite). And I noticed that several of my characters feel trapped in some way but desperately wish for freedom, which I relate to.

11. Do you have a playlist or certain song for your novel and/or characters?
Not exactly, but the Narnia soundtracks capture the feel of the novel very well.

12. Let’s have some fun for a moment: imagine you are somehow transported into your book’s world. Which character are you most likely to be found hanging out with?

OH GOSH WHY WOULD YOU SUGGEST SUCH A THING

ALL OF THEM I WOULD HANG OUT WITH ALL OF THEM.
Ok in all honestly I think I would hang out with Barrow and Allorie the most. But Danica and Egin...and Kaleth...and we really can't forget Katria. I would be so scared of her but we might still be friends.
SO YEAH I CAN'T DECIDE THEY'RE ALL TOO FABULOUS.

13. How do you keep yourself motivated to finish your daily wordcount? (Pinterest? Internet breaks? Chocolate?)

Well, I'm not doing NaNo or anything so I don't really have a word count...

14. What inspiring quote keeps you writing?

Aimee's fantastic motivational post is rather inspiring. (And no, I'm totally not jealous of Aimee's fantabulousness.)

15. How does this book make you feel so far? Are you laughing? Crying? Frustrated?

Right now I'm kinda just giggling madly because holy crap I have multiple chapters and people like it and look at these awesome characters and

So, that's all for now! I have been nominated for another blog award(what is this madness) so hopefully I will post more soon.
  Love you all!

Beautiful People Linkup #4

(just a note to anyone who happens to read this: it's obviously very old. And rather outdated. Keep that in mind.)

CRAP CRAP CRAP IT'S THE LAST DAY OF SEPTEMBER. STUPID PROCRASTINATION.

Ahem.

And I'm sorry Barrow, I lied. I am interviewing Katria. Since I don't have an official villain yet, and the BP is made for villains, and Katria is an anti-hero, I figured she was my best shot.

Barrow: How could you.

Me: I am sorry.

Here is Katria. My violent, knife-obsessed, unfeeling assassin.

Katria: What a wonderful introduction.

Me: *shrugs* Sorry. Anyway, the first question. What is your motive?

For what?

Um…actually I don't know. For why you join the quest? For why you…I don't know, do what you do?

I didn't want to spend the rest of my life waiting for someone to hire me. I needed more purpose. I was tired of hiding.

Question two: What do you want, and what are you prepared to do to get it?

I want to survive, and I'll kill anyone I have to to stay alive.

Would you kill one of your friends?

*narrows eyes* Is that one of the questions?

*looks at list* Ah, no. Shall we move on?

Alright then. How do you deal with conflict?

Violence when necessary, words when necessary. Usually both.

And you're equally vicious with both.

You really hate me don't you.

No! I don't- it's just- um, question four: describe your current place of residence.

In a small flat, in the slums of a city you haven't named yet. It's narrow and dirty and no one in their right mind would live there. It's the only place I could find. And luckily, the Blues can't find me.

And how do you like it? What is your opinion?

I've had worse. Everyone's secretive there, which is useful for my work.

That's good to know. Question five: If you were writing this story, how would it end?

I would know what to do with my life. I wouldn't have to worry about surviving and escaping the Blues.

Question six: what habits, speech patterns, etc. are unique to you?

I'm the only one in the group with my accent. You really should name my country though; it's difficult not knowing exactly where I live.

I should.

Also, I can mimic any accent or speech pattern after hearing it. And when there's nothing going on, I sharpen or count my knives, make sure they're all there.

(See? I told you. Knife-obsessed.)

I can hear you.

Question seven! Oh, you aren't going to like this one…How do you show love? What do you like to do  with/for people you love?

Love is a distraction. No good comes from it, and you always get hurt in the end.

*holds back 'unfeeling' comment* Question eight: do you have any pets?

Keeping animals for fun? What's the point? A horse is hard enough work, and horses are actually useful.

Question nine: Where would you go to relax or think?

I always have time to think. The others leave me alone.

Last question love. What is your weapon of choice(words, eyes/looks, and fists count)?

*stiffens at the word 'love'* Knives. Definitely. As well as my bow.

Your insults and glares can also be quite destructive.

I guess I'm good at anything but brute force.

Yup!

So we're done now?

Yes, you can go and be anti-social again.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to go check out Cait and Skye, the hosts of this linkup.

If my characters went to high school

As you can tell, this post is what role the characters from my WIP would have in a typical high school.

Kaleth: Definitely a jock. The popular quarterback that all the girls love.

Katria: The punk kid that gets in a lot of fights.

Ritamarie: The shy, quiet girl who has a disturbingly overprotective mother.
(but seriously, this picture doesn't even begin to cover it…)

Barrow: The class clown. He jokes around a lot, but doesn't have many real friends.
(And he gets in a lot of trouble.)

Egin: The introvert who doesn't talk to anyone, really. He likes hunting and has a crush on smart girl in his class.

Danica: The quiet, straight-A girl who sits in the back of the room. (And has a major crush on the jock.)

These are my babies. Yeesh, I have a lot of quiet ones.

Beautiful People Linkup #3

So, this month I'm doing the Beautiful People linkup again. These are fun(if not extremely mentally challenging).

Today, I think I will interrogate  interview Barrow. This guy.

So, without further ado, I give you Barrow!

Barrow: Hi guys! So, what exactly are we doing?

Me: I'm interrogating you.

Okaaayyyy…

Question 1: What do you regret most in your life?

You have to answer or I'll do it for you.

Fine. I regret trusting people.

Anyone specific?

My cousin.

Ok, we're moving on because you look like you want to kill something.
Question 2: What is your happiest memory, and your most sorrowful memory?

I remember once, when I was a little kid, I was in the garden playing with my best friend. Mother didn't call us in until it was nearly dark. I'd never had so much fun in my life.
Of course, he died that winter, so that kind of ruins it.

That…that is awful. I really needed more sad stories to use against you, didn't I?

No.
And my worst memory…I was hiding in the corner, and Teir was kicking me and saying horrible things about me and…and…

Ok, we're moving on now. That's enough misery for one question.
Question 3: What majorly get on your nerves?

When people try to control me. I do what I want, thank you very much.
And-

Oh no don't-

When people criticize my rock collection.

*moans*

I mean seriously, what's wrong with my rocks? I like them. They're pretty. You don't have to be spiteful because of it.

Dude, you're sixteen!

And that's applicable because….

Ugh, never mind.
Question 4: Do you act differently when you're around people as opposed to being alone? If so, how?

Yes. I'm very gregarious when I'm with other people. When I'm alone…

When you're alone you do nothing but hate yourself and bemoan your miserable life.

*glares*

*clears throat* Question 5: What are your beliefs and superstitions?

Well, I believe in the gods and all. I am not particularly religious; not like Danica. But I pray and do my best to follow them.

Good boy.
Question 6: What are your catchphrases or things you say frequently?

"Well, this is absurd."

"Are you sure that's wise? It could end badly."

Ummm…any others?

"Where's the food?"  "Can I sleep now?"  "Ooh look at that!"  "Why not? It looks fun."  "Don't tell me what to do!"  "You're all so boring…"

That was very good, especially since I haven't come into the story yet…

Why thank you.
Question 7: Would you be more prone to facing your fears or running from them?

Well…I don't like people to know that I'm frightened, so I have no choice but to face my fears.

*cough* people pleaser *cough*

*glares*

What?
Question 8: Do you have a good self image?
OK. I'm just going to answer this one for him. Years of being abused by the person he admired most has left him…a little lacking in confidence. Which he doesn't need to be, because he's awesome. Hint hint.

You still have to write the character development. You can't just fix me in the nothingness world known as character chats.

I know.
Question 9: Do you turn to people when you're upset, or do you isolate yourself?

I usually isolate myself. I have to trust you a lot to share my problems with you. Which doesn't happen often. I do use my friends as a distraction though. Works well until they're gone.

Oh wow, that was your last question! This next one is for me.
Question 10: If they were standing next to you, would it make you laugh or cry?
Well, after the "HOLY CRAP YOU'RE REAL THIS IS AMAZING" freakout, I would probably laugh. Because we would just be awkwardly standing there and he would say something really funny.

Thanks for letting me interrogate you, Barrow! That was fun.

For you maybe. But can I watch next time? I want to watch Katria squirm.

No. I'm not doing Katria next. And you will be turned off when I turn her on to interrogate her.

Darn.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it. I did. :)

The Liebster Award

So, Lily at Lily's Notes in the margins nominated me for the Liebster Award a few weeks ago. Thanks Lily! :) Here are the rules.

Thank and link back to the person who nominated you.
List 11 facts about yourself.
Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.
Nominate 9 bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers.
Ask them 11 questions.
Let them know about the nomination.

1. I'm a Mormon.
2. I'm slightly addicted to earlvin14's mashups on Youtube.
3. I have a little sister who is almost two and a half years younger than me.
4. I love In-N-Out.
5. Lindsey Stirling had a concert in a city near me last month and I'm really sad because she was sold out and i couldn't go.
6. But I have been to an Imagine Dragons concert.
7. I play piano, recorder, dulcimer, glockenspiel, drums, guitar, and bass. I can also sing(but not all that well). My family is very musical.
8. We also have two cats, and I loveth them.
9. A new character showed up in my WIP a few weeks ago, and I couldn't get rid of him if I wanted(which i don't). I'm just not sure how he fits into the pre-arranged scheme of things.
10. I'm having a hard time thinking of facts about me.
11. I have blue eyes.

Wow that was hard. Now for Nessie's questions.

1. If you could have any super power, what would it be?  This question always used to stump me. Now I'm pretty sure that I would want to be able to fly. Seriously, how cool would that be?!
2. What is a job you have absolutely no interest in having?  A banker. Dealing with numbers and math all day? Just… *shivers* no. Or the people that have to prepare dead bodies? No way.
3. You are a character in the last book you read. Who are you? Mimi Langlander from Key to Rondo. (Please tell me I'm not the only person who's read that. One of the best-written books ever.)
4. If you could be a side character in any book ever, which would you choose?  What counts as side character? Well, probably Marta from Jessica Day George's Dragon Slippers series. Love her sass and bravery.
5. If you found buried treasure, what would you do with it?  I would probably tell the authorities, as long as they promised that I could keep a lot of it.
6. What is your favorite smell?   THIS IS HARD. 1. In-N-Out. The restaurant smells so amazing.  2. Balance essential oil by doTERRA. I could smell it all day. Speaking of…..I'll be right back.
7. You are suddenly given the opportunity and power to dictate that one item of clothing or accessory is popular. What do you choose?  TUTUS. NOT JUST FOR LITTLE KIDS. That would be so amazing. I would totally wear a bright red tutu with spiky combat boots. *sigh*
8. If you had the ability to transform into any animal you wanted, which would you choose?  Probably a falcon or eagle or some other bird of prey. (I want to fly; can you tell?)
9. What are some of your favorite words?  ALL OF THEM. Jk. I love words so this is also hard. Discombobulate, eradicate, effervescent, vivacious, imagine, hobbit...
10. Have you ever broken a bone?  Yes. I broke my right arm when I was ten. I was riding my scooter with my sister, and then suddenly I was on the ground and my arm and face hurt. (My mom says I'm lucky that I didn't break my nose as well.)

I hereby nominate Stacia. And anyone else if you want it.

Beautiful People: Character Interiew

Today, I'm going to interview my character Egin, using the questions from the Beautiful People thing on Cait and Mime's blog Notebook Sisters. (Yes, I'm new to this; why do you ask?)

1) What is their full name and is there a story behind why they got it?

His full name is Egin. And I just made it up. But the country he's from is based on Scandinavia, and when I looked at a list of Scandinavian names..."Egon" was one of them. I was very happy.

2) How old are they, and when were they born?

He's 15. He was born in late winter....and he lives in a fantasy world so there's not really a year.

3) Describe their physical appearance. (Bonus questions: 1. What is their race/nationality/ethnicity? 2. Do you have a picture?)

He has red hair. He's a hunter, so he wears a lot of leather and rough materials.
1. He's pretty much a Viking. Which is really cool.
2. Yes. Yes I do. *slightly obsessive laugh* He looks exactly like Eddie Redmayne, so it's really easy to find good pictures.
Look at him; he's so adorable!

*fangirls* :3

ok I'm stopping now.

4) Describe your character's personality first in one word, and then elaborate with a few sentences.

Quiet.
He's lived alone in a forest for most of his life, so...he's not very good with people. And he's not very talkative. And he's a little too curious. If he can't physically see the danger, he'll probably check it out. And despite the fact that he's pretty shy and seems kinda unfriendly, he honestly likes people a lot. He's also an amazing archer.

5) What theme song(s) fit their personality and story arc?

I haven't really thought of this yet. I will probably comment if I figure out a song.

6) Which one of the seven deadly sins describes your character? (Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Envy, Sloth, Wrath, Pride.)

I'VE BEEN THINKING FOR LIKE HALF AN HOUR AND I CAN'T DECIDE WHICH ONE. EGIN IS PERFECT.

7) If they were an element (fire, water, earth, air) which would they be?

Water. He's very mellow and relaxed.

8) What is their favorite word?

Hunt.

9) Who's one person they really miss?

His best friend(who still doesn't have a name). He would stay with her family when he was staying in town. And they became really close and stuff.

10) What sights, sounds, and smells remind them of that person?

Ugh, you people are making me think. Uuummmm…porridge. She would make porridge when he would visit and now it makes him think of her. (This is new information to me and now I'm giving myself feels. #writerproblems )

And that's it! Thanks for reading; comment, like, subscribe(I guess I'm youtuber now. Hm).

First post, whoo!

Hi peoples! Welcome to my blog! I plan on posting about my writings, my readings, and other stuff that strikes my fancy. Will probably be mostly word-related. Hope you enjoy!!
